We’re proud to work with our Sustainable Events Collective partners, a group of event professionals who incorporate eco-conscious practices into their businesses and help make more sustainable celebrations possible.
Flowers by Stem specializes in bespoke, hand-crafted floral design for weddings and events in and around the Chicago area.
Owner, Stephanie Stopka founded Flowers by Stem in 2005 on the idea that the key to beautiful design is a personal, hand-crafted approach.
To this day, Stephanie oversees every design detail, from initial design consultation to plans for final set-up.

Skip the Foam
No matter which florist you choose, we encourage you to ask whether they use floral foam in their arrangements.
Floral foam is a water-absorbing plastic material that is neither recyclable nor biodegradable. As it breaks down, tiny plastic particles can make their way into waterways and contribute to microplastic pollution, where they can impact freshwater and marine ecosystems.
Floral foam is also made using chemicals including phenol and formaldehyde, which are considered hazardous substances.
The good news? Beautiful floral designs don’t require floral foam. Ask your florist about foam-free alternatives that can create the same lush, beautiful results with less environmental impact.
All of the florists listed here are committed to foam-free floral design and do not use floral foam in their arrangements.
