We love being part of the Chicago Green Wedding Alliance – it’s a small and closely-knit group of all kinds of wedding vendors and professionals who have come together to educate both the industry and couples about the benefits of a “green wedding”
One of the original founding members of the Alliance, Spilled Ink Press is comprised of Tony and Amanda, a husband and wife team of semi-former architects who now design custom wedding invitations, party invitations, greeting cards and all kinds of stationery. We love how they describe their work, focusing especially on the green aspects of their invites:
We create invitation designs that encompass a style we like to call “invitation architecture”- a marriage of information and form. Each design is completely handmade, environmentally friendly, and customized to give the perfect first impression. All of the paper mills we patronize use FSC Certified stock and all of the paper we offer has a minimum of 30% post consumer waste recycled content; whenever possible we use those with more. We also design our invitations in a material-efficient manner that mirrors the architectural mantra “form follows function”, allowing us to reuse paper left over from job to job.
The duo are lovely to work with, as their many 5-star Yelp reviews will attest to. And although all their invites are completely custom, most recently, Tony & Amanda were invited to adapt several of their favorite past designs into sets of stationery for Shop 1021, a brand-new home and gift boutique in Logan Square. That’s the display of their work at Shop 1021 at the top of the post.
