WOW, what an event! Compass to Care hosted Fashion Flash – the first ever Fashion Show which featured “Fashion Police” – State Troopers, modeling to support kids with cancer, right here at our West Loop venue!
Overall, the event was a tremendous success. Michelle Ernsdorff and her group of volunteers worked tirelssly to organize this silent auction from top to bottom. The centerpiece of the evening was a fun and trendy fashion show featuring Illinois State Troopers who walked the runway to raise money to help children travel for cancer treatment in front of a full-house crowd, who enjoyed premium cocktails, thanks to sponsorship from Pinnacle Vodka, Crown Imports and others.
The star of the evening was little Alexander, a Compass to Care Child who is braving cancer. When he took the microphone our hearts melted. And hearing the story of how Michelle’s father hitchhiked from the hospital back to care for her siblings, leaving their only car for Mom to use when Michelle was hospitalized with cancer as a child, made the crowd understand the roots of the Compass to Care mission. At the end, he was awarded a Troopers Hat and medal.
Art of Imagination provided beautiful and luxurious platinum draping through which the Troopers entered the runway, as well as lighting to match.
And finally, when the State Troopers took to the runway, they really brought the house down!
It was a fun event for a great cause and we were happy to have hosted at Loft on Lake. The Troopers weren’t afraid to let their personality shine, much to the crowd’s delight.
Ji Suk Yi, contributor on ABC 7 Chicago’s Windy City LIVE, served as master of ceremonies for the event.
